Let go…have more!

“A simple life is not seeing how little we can get by with—that’s poverty—but how efficiently we can put first things first. . . . When you’re clear about your purpose and your priorities, you can painlessly discard whatever does not support these, whether it’s clutter in your cabinets or commitments on your calendar.” ― Victoria Moran

I was meant to write a blog post yesterday, following my offer to share 5 simple things that have inspired me in some way this year.
It was day 3 yesterday, and I fully intended to post something about books & how we store them.
I wrote lots, took photos to share. But I just wasn’t happy with it.
I was trying too hard. I was trying to get it done, & I killed it.
So I stopped.

This blog is not something for me to ‘just get done’. This is a space for me to be authentic.

Much like our home…the spaces we ‘just got done’ like the upstairs bathroom, when I was a the peak of my pregnancy sickness, have become my least favourite.
While the spaces we took time with & did at our own pace, {the kitchen, the living space}, are certainly our best bits!

If something isn’t working, or doesn’t ‘feel right’ I have started to take notice. More often than not, when I stay true to what feels right, and let go of what feels wrong, I’m guided in exactly the direction I need to be.

So it was with yesterday’s writing. It didn’t feel right. I stopped. And it’s given me the perfect topic to share today.

This time of year we start making plans. We start looking at what we want to do, what we want to achieve. Our goals & ambitions make us think we will be ‘better’ versions of ourselves.
But perhaps there’s a simple alternative. Look at what isn’t working. Let it go, take the pressure off.
It’ll be a bigger gift, than covering it up with something else.

I’ve even chosen to forego photos with this post! A first! And hopefully the last!
Happy stopping & Happy Thursday x
