Make my kitchen Happy – with Laura Ashley

Meals and Memories are made here…

We were honoured to have Laura Ashley ask to feature our {handmade by Ross} kitchen on their blog this month & excited to choose a few pieces from their Spring range of home ware to ‘Make our Kitchen Happy’!

To say our kitchen is the heart of our home is an understatement. It’s tiny, but so beautiful & light, it doesn’t take much for us to be happy here.
And with it all being bespoke handmade by Ross, it’s just that little bit more extra special to us.

I’ll start with a little list of the things we chose & then you can spot them in the pics below:
{each product is linked so you can tap across to the Laura Ashley website}
Pair of wooden spoons
Pale blue melamine bowl
Peony Garden Cake forks {in amazing packaging!}
Peony Garden Cake slice {more beautiful boxed packaging!}
Pair of tea towels
Jute Runner/rug
Glass Cake stand

As I said, our kitchen is tiny, so we like to have multi-functional kitchenalia. {I don’t even know if that’s a word, but you know what I mean?!} I find glass so useful, jam jars get used as vases, beakers, storage vessels, pastry cutters. Plus it’s clear & let’s all the light in, so when I saw this beautiful cake stand, my mind was immediately pondering other uses…which fell to plants. Particularly pressing flowers.

I’ve seen some amazing uses of cake stands like mini greenhouses, to sow your seedlings or grow mini succulents, which no doubt we will go on to do next month, but we wanted to have a play with pressing the fresh blooms we’ve been gathering at the market each week.

You can see the DIY tutorial on how we turned our cake stand into a flower press in my previous post. {it’s given us unexpectedly brilliant results! See the hanging glass frame above}

Making our kitchen happy generally involves bringing in vases of flowers or baking cakes {topped with petals!} but we also wanted to pot a few pretty primroses into teapots by using the cake slice as a mini trowel.

I have to say, this went a lot better than expected! Lily was so careful & thoroughly enjoyed our kitchen planting session x

Lucky me, not a scrap of soil on our new rug. This gorgeously soft jute runner is just perfect for the chilly kitchen floor. Like most mums, I’m often to be found in the kitchen with a little one hanging off my leg or trying to sit up on the worktop…but with this new rug on the floor, she’s so happy to sit & play! Hurrah!

And finally, the wooden spoons & pale blue melamine bowl are perfect for baking cakes & for play-mixing petals too!

Thank you Laura Ashley, you have managed to make our happy place, even more fun!

We hope we’ve given you a few ideas along the way!

Have a joyful week,
Jess x
